Building a Worship School from Scratch
How God Told Me to Build a Worship School
A behind-the-scenes look at the calling, battles, and breakthrough behind YWEH Music.
I never set out to build a worship school.
I just wanted to teach music and follow God’s voice.
But one night—during a week of extended worship at church—He spoke clearly:
“Start something with My name on it.”
Not mine. Not a ministry brand. His.
That’s where the name YWEH Music came from.
I had no students. No building. No plan.
But then God brought me one homeschooled drum student. And that’s when everything began.
Worship Teams in Crisis
As I started teaching, I began to realize something deeper was broken:
Guitarists didn’t know their fretboards
Pianists couldn’t flow in worship
Drummers cared more about gigs than ministry
Worship leaders were producing emotional moments, but not cultivating presence
Even when people wanted to give God their best, they gave polished, predictable sets from the CCLI Top 100.
We had trained performers.
But we had not discipled worshipers.
My Own Crisis of Worship
Before I ever started YWEH Music, I faced this myself.
I had performed choral masterpieces in grand concert halls—even after I got saved. But one project shifted everything: a recording of songs written during a 100-year prayer and worship movement.
Music born in sacred space. I loved it.
Until we recorded it.
Suddenly the goal wasn’t to praise God—it was to perfect the sound. And I realized: performance had replaced presence.
I asked:
“Where is God in all of this?”
“Is this what worship is supposed to be?”

Confronting the Lie: Performance = Worship
Even after launching YWEH Music, I saw the lie again. So I confronted it head-on.
I wrote a message for church titled Biblical Worship. That became a 5-week class. That class changed lives—and reshaped everything I teach today.
I began designing lessons that trained students not just to play, but to lead. Not just to practice, but to carry His presence.
Math in Motion: Breaking the Homeschool Wall
Then came a divine opportunity:
My aunt asked me to create a high school music theory course for Classical Conversations.
Most homeschool families don’t know where to start with music theory.
Math in Motion broke that barrier:
Easy-to-follow lessons
Supportive to both students and parents
Biblically grounded and academically sound
That course opened a huge door for online training—and helped YWEH Music expand.
What I’ve Had to Learn to Build This
To build YWEH Music, I had to become:
A web designer
A funnel strategist
A curriculum writer
A video editor
A copywriter
A prayer warrior
A spiritual leader
I’ve battled trauma. Criticism. Self-doubt. Burnout.
I’ve faced friends saying, “Just quit.”
I’ve led worship while wondering if I’d make rent.
And still—God has provided.
The Vision Ahead
This may have been the hardest year of my life.
But it’s also the most fruitful.
We’re now preparing to launch a Worship School in 2026—a program that will rival university-level worship education, while staying fully grounded in:
Biblical Theology
Creative Freedom
Spiritual Maturity
Musical Excellence
Kingdom Identity
We’re not just building lessons.
We’re forming leaders.
